The agreement

Terms & Conditions

Last updated 18 September 2026

By booking with Aura Auto Group — submitting a request through this site, signing a rental agreement, or taking delivery of a vehicle — you agree to be bound by the terms set out on this page.

Please read them before you book. If anything here is unclear, call us and we will talk it through rather than leave you to guess.

1. Agreement to these terms

These terms govern every rental, chauffeur booking and delivery arranged with Aura Auto Group ("we", "us", "our"). By submitting a booking request, signing a rental agreement, taking delivery of a vehicle, or otherwise using our services, you ("you", "the renter") accept these terms in full and agree to be bound by them.

If you are booking on behalf of a company or another person, you confirm you have authority to bind them, and you remain jointly responsible for compliance.

A booking request submitted through this website is a request, not a confirmed reservation. A rental is confirmed only once we have accepted it in writing, verified your documents, and received any deposit due. We may decline any booking at our discretion.

These terms are supplemented by the rental agreement you sign at the point of delivery. Where the two differ, the signed rental agreement takes precedence.

2. Eligibility and driver requirements

To rent a vehicle from us you must:

  • Be at least 25 years of age. Renters aged 21 to 24 may be accepted by exception, on the conditions set out below.
  • Hold a full, valid driver's licence held for a minimum of 3 years, and present it at delivery.
  • Present a valid passport or government photo ID matching the licence.
  • Present a credit card in your own name, with sufficient available limit for the security deposit. Debit cards and prepaid cards are not accepted for the deposit.
  • Have no major violations, at-fault accidents, or licence suspensions within the previous three years.
  • Not be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or any medication impairing your ability to drive.

We reserve the right to run a driving-record check and to decline any rental where the record, documentation, or conduct at handover gives us reasonable cause for concern. Where we decline on these grounds before the rental begins, any sums paid are refunded in full.

Only drivers named and approved on the signed rental agreement may operate the vehicle. Permitting any other person to drive is a material breach of these terms and voids all insurance coverage.

Renters aged 21 to 24. We will consider a renter below 25, case by case, where the additional information and security measures below are provided and accepted in advance:

  • A clean driving record for the past five years — no at-fault accidents, major violations, licence suspensions or comparable claims.
  • Additional identification: proof of your home address in your own name, and proof of employment, enrolment or income.
  • Written confirmation from your own insurer that your policy covers the specific vehicle, for its full value, for the rental period. We verify this with the insurer directly rather than on your word for it.
  • A security deposit of up to twice the amount published for the vehicle, agreed in writing before the booking is accepted.
  • Consent to live vehicle telematics for the rental, an agreed mileage limit, and no travel outside our service area under any circumstances.
  • An in-person handover, with the vehicle's performance, limits and handling covered before the keys change hands.
  • A guarantor aged 25 or over who meets the standard requirements and signs the rental agreement alongside you, where we ask for one.

Approval under this exception is at our sole discretion, is given in writing before the booking is accepted, and applies to that booking only. Not every vehicle in the fleet is available under it — the most powerful cars are released to renters aged 25 and over. We may decline without giving a reason, and a booking we decline on these grounds before the rental begins is refunded in full.

A chauffeur booking has no such requirement: our driver drives, so anyone aged 21 or over may book one, and the driver requirements in this section do not apply (section 13).

3. Insurance

You must carry your own automobile liability and physical damage insurance that extends to rented vehicles of the class you are renting, with a minimum of $300,000 combined single limit. You must provide proof of coverage, naming Aura Auto Group as an additional insured and loss payee, before the vehicle is released.

Many standard personal policies exclude high-value vehicles or cap coverage well below the value of our fleet. It is your responsibility to confirm with your insurer, in advance, that your policy covers the specific vehicle you are renting for its full replacement value.

Where your policy does not extend, we may be able to arrange coverage for the rental period at additional cost. This must be agreed before delivery.

You remain responsible for any deductible, excess, or amount not met by insurance, and for any diminution in the vehicle's value following damage.

4. Security deposit

A refundable security deposit is required for every self-drive rental. The amount is shown on each vehicle's page and varies with the vehicle. It is held against the credit card presented at delivery.

No security deposit is taken on a chauffeur booking. The vehicle stays in our possession and our driver's care throughout, so there is nothing held against its return (section 13).

Renters approved under the exception for ages 21 to 24 (section 2) are subject to a deposit of up to 2 times the published amount. The exact figure is confirmed in writing before the booking is accepted, never at handover.

Provided the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged, with the agreed fuel level, within the mileage allowance, and free of violations, the hold is released within 10 business days of return. The time your bank takes to reflect the release is outside our control.

We may deduct from the deposit any amount properly due under these terms, including damage, excess mileage, refuelling, cleaning, late return, delivery charges, tolls and tickets. Where costs exceed the deposit, you remain liable for the balance.

5. Rates, payment and cancellation

Rates are quoted per twenty-four hour period and are exclusive of tax, delivery, optional services and any charges arising under these terms. Rates are confirmed at the time of booking and are not subject to change once accepted.

The full rental amount is due before the vehicle is released, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Cancellation:

  • More than 72 hours before the scheduled start: cancelled at no charge, less any non-recoverable third-party costs already incurred.
  • Within 72 hours of the scheduled start: 50% of the rental is retained.
  • Failure to appear at the agreed time and place, or inability to satisfy the requirements in section 2 at handover: the full rental is retained.

If we cancel a confirmed booking for any reason other than your breach of these terms, you receive a full refund. Where possible we will first offer a comparable vehicle from the fleet. Our liability in these circumstances is limited to the amount you have paid us.

6. Permitted use of the vehicle

The vehicle must be operated lawfully, responsibly, and in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. The following are strictly prohibited and each constitutes a material breach:

  • Any racing, competition, time trial, track day, autocross, drifting, speed testing, or driver-training use.
  • Off-road driving, or use on any surface not intended for normal road vehicles.
  • Towing, pushing, or propelling any other vehicle, trailer or object.
  • Carrying passengers or property for hire, including any rideshare or delivery platform.
  • Transporting hazardous, flammable, explosive or illegal materials.
  • Use in the commission of any offence, or to transport more passengers than the vehicle has seatbelts.
  • Subletting, re-renting, lending, or transferring possession of the vehicle to any person.
  • Operation by any person not named and approved on the rental agreement.
  • Driving while impaired by alcohol, controlled substances, or fatigue.
  • Smoking or vaping in the vehicle, or transporting animals other than a certified service animal.
  • Removing, disabling, obscuring or tampering with any telematics, tracking or recording device fitted to the vehicle.
  • Any modification, badge removal, wrap, decal, or alteration of any kind.

A breach of this section voids all insurance coverage, entitles us to recover the vehicle immediately and at your cost, and makes you liable for the full value of any loss or damage. Evidence of smoking or vaping incurs a $400 charge.

7. Mileage

The daily mileage allowance is set per vehicle and is shown on that vehicle's page. It varies with the car, so please check the allowance for the specific vehicle you are booking.

Mileage is calculated across the whole rental rather than per day, so unused allowance carries forward within the same booking.

Miles driven beyond the allowance are charged at $5 per mile, deducted from the security deposit on return.

Extended mileage packages can be arranged in advance at a preferential rate. Please ask when booking.

8. Where the vehicle may be driven

Vehicles may be driven within New York · New Jersey · Connecticut without prior arrangement.

Travel beyond the tri-state area requires our written permission in advance, which may be subject to additional mileage, insurance and delivery terms. Taking a vehicle outside the permitted area without permission is a material breach, voids insurance, and may result in immediate recovery of the vehicle at your cost.

Vehicles may not under any circumstances be taken outside the United States, or transported by ferry, rail, or any carrier without our written consent.

9. Delivery, collection and condition

Vehicles are delivered and collected at an agreed address and time within our service area. Delivery and collection are provided under our White Glove service, charged as follows:

  • $75 base fee, covering the first 10 miles.
  • $50 for each additional 10 miles, or part thereof, beyond the first 10.
  • Tolls and any third-party charges incurred during delivery or collection, at cost.

Mileage is the total distance travelled, out and back, by the most direct practicable route between our dispatch point and the delivery address — not the one-way distance. The fee covers both delivery and collection. Tolls and charges are deducted from the security deposit rather than billed separately.

A quote is confirmed in writing before the booking is accepted, so there is never a figure you have not already seen.

A joint inspection is carried out at delivery and again at collection. Both are photographed and time-stamped, and the record forms part of the rental agreement. You are asked to review and confirm the delivery inspection before the vehicle is released to you. Any pre-existing damage not noted at that point cannot later be excluded from your responsibility.

The vehicle is supplied clean, mechanically sound, and with a full tank. It must be returned in the same condition.

Vehicles returned requiring more than a standard valet incur a cleaning charge of up to $300. Vehicles returned with less fuel than supplied incur a refuelling charge of $150 plus the cost of fuel.

You must remain with the vehicle until our representative arrives for collection, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Leaving a vehicle unattended at the end of a rental keeps you responsible for it until we take possession.

10. Late return

A grace period of 60 minutes applies to all returns. Beyond that, late returns are charged at one eighth of the daily rate per hour, up to the full daily rate.

Returns more than three hours late are charged as a full additional rental day, and every day thereafter, until the vehicle is returned.

Where a late return causes us to cancel or curtail another booking, you are additionally liable for the losses arising. Please tell us as early as possible if you expect to be delayed — we can usually accommodate it.

11. Damage, loss and mechanical issues

You are responsible for the vehicle from the moment it is released to you until we take possession of it, including damage caused by any driver, passenger, third party, theft, vandalism, weather, or act of nature.

You must report any accident, damage, theft, or mechanical fault to us immediately, and to the police where required by law. You must not authorise any repair, recovery, or storage without our consent.

Where a vehicle is damaged, you are liable for the cost of repair, any insurance deductible, loss of rental income while the vehicle is off the road, recovery and storage costs, and any diminution in the vehicle's market value resulting from the damage history.

Mechanical failure arising from normal use, and not from misuse or breach of these terms, is our responsibility. We will recover the vehicle and, where practicable, supply a comparable replacement or refund the unused portion of the rental. That refund is the limit of our liability in these circumstances.

Damage to wheels, tyres, glass, undertrays and paint from road debris is common on low-slung vehicles and remains your responsibility.

12. Tolls, tickets and violations

You are responsible for all tolls, congestion charges, parking tickets, camera citations, moving violations and associated penalties incurred during your rental, including any received by us after the rental has ended.

We pass these through at cost. We do not add an administration charge for processing them.

We are required by law to identify the driver to the issuing authority where a citation is received, and will do so.

13. Chauffeur services

Chauffeur bookings are quoted by the hour or by the day, with a minimum engagement agreed at the time of booking. The quoted rate includes the driver, the vehicle, fuel and standard mileage within the service area.

Time beyond the booked engagement is charged in thirty-minute increments at the agreed hourly rate. Gratuity is at your discretion and is not included unless expressly stated.

Our chauffeurs operate within the hours-of-service limits required by law and will decline any instruction that is unlawful, unsafe, or outside the scope of the booking. The vehicle remains in our possession and control throughout: no security deposit is taken (section 4), anyone aged 21 or over may book, and you need neither a driver's license nor your own insurance to do so. Sections 2, 7 and 11 apply differently or not at all to chauffeur bookings, and your booking confirmation will state which.

Smoking, vaping, open containers of alcohol where prohibited, and conduct endangering the driver or vehicle will end the engagement immediately with no refund.

14. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, our total liability arising from or connected with any rental is limited to the total amount you have paid us for that rental.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of enjoyment, missed events, missed connections, or costs arising from a vehicle being unavailable or becoming unavailable.

You agree to indemnify us against all claims, losses, penalties and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of a vehicle or your breach of these terms.

We are not responsible for personal property left in or removed from a vehicle.

15. Privacy and vehicle telematics

We collect and hold the personal information necessary to verify your eligibility, process your booking and meet our legal obligations. We do not sell your information. We share it only with our insurers, with law enforcement where required, and with authorities processing citations.

Our vehicles are fitted with telematics that record location, speed and operating data. This data is used to protect the vehicles, to investigate incidents, and to establish compliance with these terms. By taking delivery of a vehicle you consent to that recording.

16. General

We may revise these terms at any time. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time your booking is confirmed.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in full effect.

Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York County, New York.

Questions about these terms should be directed to auraautogroupnyc@gmail.com or (347) 892-6346.

These terms form part of the rental agreement you sign at delivery. Where the two differ, the signed agreement governs. Nothing on this page is legal advice, and it does not affect any right you have under applicable consumer law.
